Do I need a referral letter to book an appointment?

Yes, you will need a valid referral letter from either:

  • Your GP (valid 12 months from your first appointment)
  • Another specialist clinician or surgeon (valid for 3 months)
  • Please email or fax us a copy of referral letter
  • Please get in touch if you have any specific queries
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
  • Medicare card
  • Private health insurance details
  • List of your regular medications
  • Results of any blood tests, urine tests, ultrasounds or other imaging studies ordered by your GP prior to this appointment. Please have your GP email or fax them to us or bring copies to the appointment.
  • Previous operation reports or hospital discharge summaries related to your condition.
  • Fill out an patient registration form

Where does Dr Lucky operate or perform surgery?

Dr Lucky currently operates in Epworth Freemasons hospital, Frances Perry house, Cabrini Malvern and Cabrini Brighton.

How much is Dr Lucky’s consultation fee?

Consulting fees vary depending on complexity, type (new vs review, long vs short consult) and mode (face 2 face vs phone). Once you have sent us the referral form, Dr Lucky’s room will get in touch with you ASAP and will be able to provide you with more specific information on fees. You can however contact us via email or phone anytime if you have any general questions or queries about the fee structure.

How soon can I get to see Dr Lucky?

If your condition is urgent, Dr Lucky will prioritise scheduling your appointment ASAP. For less acute conditions, Dr Lucky will aim to see you within few weeks of referral. At Dr Lucky’s, we try our best to accommodate your needs. Please get in touch if you have any specific queries, email or call us.

What if I cannot attend my appointment?

You will receive a reminder text or email prior to your appointment date. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know at your earliest convenience. A cancellation fee may be charged if you do not turn up to your appointment.

What if I am running late to my appointment?

If you are running late, please contact us as early as possible. We will do our best to reschedule or adjust your appointment time for your convenience.

What if I am bleeding on my appointment day?

If you notice you are bleeding leading up to the appointment day, please call us. Some procedures are best re-scheduled if you are bleeding or on your period. If you are bleeding heavily on the day of arrival at the rooms, please let reception staff know straight away.

How much does my surgery cost?

Surgery fees vary for each procedure depending on the complexity, nature of the surgery, and level of cover. Your private health insurance and Medicare will cover part of the surgeon’s fees; however, this will vary depending on your insurer and level of cover. Please note, Dr Lucky usually charges a gap fee. Dr Lucky’s room will get in touch with you, you will be given an informed financial consent outlining any fees/item numbers for the procedure. Please note the surgeon’s fee does not include your anaesthetist fee, surgical assistant fee, the hospital excess and pathology costs.
